Drinking Alcohol Increases the Risk of Certain Cancers

Overview of Cancer Risk

Taking alcohol is a major factor towards contracting cancers of various types and their research studies show an enhanced instance of cancerous implications.

Cancers Associated with It

Several forms of cancer, such as the ones at the mouth, throat, oesophagus, liver and breast are linked with alcohol consumption.

Mechanisms of Carcinogenicity

Alcohol consumed in beverages contains ethanol, and this when consumed causes cellular transformation to acetaldehyde, which is carcinogenic since it affects the DNA.

Dose-Dependent Risk

The study also prove that any amount of alcohol has a risk factor attached to it especially related to cancers.

Gender Differences in Risk

It also states that women have a higher risk of some cancers including breast and liver cancers if they take alcohol.

Public Awareness Gaps

Most people do not have any idea that alcohol is cancerous and most people think, a certain type of alcoholic drink is safer than the other kind.

Recommendations

Reducing the number of drinks consumed per week or foregoing alcohol can greatly decrease the chances of getting alcohol associated cancers.
